My (Likely) Unpopular Thoughts on World Vision

UPDATE 03/26/2014 – 4pm

What’s more difficult than making a controversial decision? Admitting you were wrong and reversing that decision. I am amazed at the change of heart by World Vision’s leadership with this latest statement: World Vision Reverses Decision To Hire Christians in Same-Sex Marriages

When I started up with blogging again—one of the things I said I wanted to do was use my voice to speak boldly at a time in our culture when it seems easier to just speak what’s comfortable.

It is For Freedom : Excerpt from Dirty Girls Come Clean

Greeting, my friends.

Independence Day is one of my favorite times of the year. I am so very proud to be an American and am so very thankful for the service men and women who have fought so bravely to defend the freedoms we live with everyday. And I pray you would stay safe and give thanks for the freedom so many sacrificed to provide us.

I thought today, on this Independence Day, that this particular excerpt from Dirty Girls Come Clean would be fitting. It’s a plea for freedom and a thanksgiving to Christ for giving us…

So, I’m Writing a Book… WHAT?!

I know the bondage of sexual sin and addiction. Since the age of 10, I have struggled with some form it. What I’ve noticed in my 14+ years of experience is the lack of resources for women to find freedom. Sure, there’s some of books about porn and sexual addiction for men. But try and find something targeted at women that shows a real woman’s story, biblical and relevant tools for overcoming the struggle that also provides hope, and you will be hard pressed to find anything. I know, because I’ve looked! I spent years in bondage just looking…

getting IT back…

the last few days have been seen through old cynical eyes and tear-blurred eyes and fresh new eyes. i’m overwhelmed by Him and don’t have sufficient words to describe anything i am feeling. the only feeling i can describe semi-accurately is how i feel like i just returned from summer camp.

God is more intimate with me in this moment than i’ve been with Him in a long time.

i will share more soon.

that I’ll give you all that your heart could ever want and so much more….

you know you’re too busy when…

there isn’t time to decently blog.
just to fill you in:

1. I am super busy. A lot of events and activities coming up which means, busy times for the 2 of us that make up the Communications Department. So busy, in fact, that for the first time in 8 years, I am not with the 300+ students and leaders at camp this week. Kinda sad, really. It is great to see ministries planning and Westside moving right along, but man! Here’s a snapshot our ever-growing “to do” board.

2. Westside…

Pink Elephant Alert

Have you been spiritually abused? I’ll walk out on a limb and say that if you are in ministry, then you probably have — we all have and sadly, may not even realize it is what it is.

Spiritual abuse has been defined as “a kind of abuse which damages the central core of who we are. It leaves us spiritually discouraged and emotionally cut off from the healing love of God.”

But why does it happen? Generally, by “the mistreatment of a person who is in need of help, support or greater spiritual empowerment, with the result of weakening, undermining,…

the hug poem

i genuinely appreciate when someone else can write exactly how i feel.

Bradley Hathaway, “The Hug Poem”

I read about how you touched them and they were healed or even if someone just touched your cloak they were forever changed. You let a broken women bathe your feet in her tears and you washed your best friend’s feet. I am just wondering though did you just ever hug people?

I mean I know that it is a silly question and all, I am sure you would have why wouldn’t you but its one of those things that was never…
